The Origins of TUT or The Start of Something New?
Song Of The Week
In a world where the shadows tend to creep in, Maddie Barker brings a much-needed burst of warmth with her latest track, Sunny Side Up. This feel-good bop is like waking up to the smell of pancakes and the sun hitting your face just right—effortlessly bright, cozy, and impossible not to smile at.
From the first strum of the guitar, it’s like a little pocket of happiness spills out of your speakers. The melody bounces around like morning light through the blinds, and Barker’s voice? Sweet, effortless, and laced with that kind of warmth that melts away any lingering grumpiness.
Lyrically, Sunny Side Up is all about choosing to see the bright side, even when the skies aren’t exactly clear. It’s playful, light, and a reminder that sometimes, joy is just a perspective shift away.
Then comes the chorus—bubbly, infectious, and the kind of thing that makes you want to sing along, preferably with friends, maybe on a road trip, windows down. The production sparkles with layered harmonies and a rhythm that practically insists you move, making the whole song feel like a little celebration of life’s simple joys.
Barker has this gift for turning fleeting moments into something worth holding onto, and Sunny Side Up is no exception. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the porch, walking through sun-drenched streets, or just in need of a pick-me-up, this song is the perfect dose of sunshine.
In a music world that can sometimes lean heavy, Sunny Side Up is that first sip of fresh lemonade on a hot day—refreshing, effortless, and exactly what you needed.
Introduction
I will start this off with a vow to you, my readers and to myself, to create this blog with integrity. I am not here to teach you something, but maybe you’ll learn something new. The purpose of these posts is to have a conversation with you. In this vast universe, it can be very overwhelming to reach out to people which results in being a closed off individual. It’s like being the fish from The Rainbow Fish, possessing all these pretty, colorful scales but refusing to share any of it because it is too scary to open up and get rejected connections. I have fallen victim to it and on the flip side there are others experiencing the same feeling. From the book, the wise octopus says, “to feel joy in this world, we must share our souls with each other to form beautiful bonds.” Life is full of so many possibilities, there are so many places to explore, so many things to do, so much knowledge to receive and so many people to meet. It is so easy to lose sight of the big picture and lose focus on the beautiful wonders of the world. I want to build a community of all people who have found themselves on the same path as me and join me on this rollercoaster of “Life.” Where I learn to trust the process and dedicate myself to me for once. Thus, I vow to you readers and myself; I will give it my all, 150%.
Enjoy Your Stay
So, allow me to introduce and welcome you to The Unfinished Times. I am your writer behind the screen here to share my opinions, secrets, and knowledge on the internet. I will bring many topics to you each week on Wednesdays, and they will vary from fitness, to philosophy, to the occasional thought experiments that only exist in a land far, far, far away with all the topics in between. Each entry will be the beginning of starting something new but will never be the end of our conversation. Not everything I will discuss will be for you and that is all right. I just hope I write at least one topic you enjoy. Throughout these topics I want to capture the true essence of things, nature, and dive into the big feelings we all feel. Talking about things I feel like no one enjoys talking about in the weirdest way possible. Almost like a cross between Gossip Girl’s anonymous blogger and a hint of hit show iCarly.com- a blend of unfiltered explorations and unabashed community.
The First, of Many Building Blocks
Like music, it is one of those building blocks of connection that I think is not used correctly. Most people ask about your favorite artists or what type of music you listen to and to me that is too board. Don’t get me wrong some artists speak volumes about you as a person but, what about just a song? I challenge you to consider your top five songs that showcase your music taste. I know there is A LOT out there but without a doubt Sunny Side Up is in my top five. It is her only song out now and it is in my top five. Everything from the lyrics to the beat, to the symbolism; it is quite a symphony. If you have heard this song before, leave a comment of the first time you listened to it and if it yours first time let me know if you enjoyed it.
Anyways, with that, let me exit this first post, inviting you to join me next week for a deep dive about your writer and unveiling of a new Song of the Week. Your journey, my journey, our journey- it’s all part of the Unfinished Times narrative.

This isn’t the end—just a bookmark in the conversation. Stories don’t really close; they unfold, shift, and find new voices. If this one stirred something in you, let it breathe. Leave a thought, challenge an idea, or carry it forward in your own way. And if you ever feel like wandering through more unfinished thoughts, you know where to find me. Let’s keep the conversation alive.~ XOXO
